Just needed to grab the full ncurses sources and compile first.

I feel as though i am missing something, haven't tried to use irssi yet on my pi, but it did install with "sudo apt-get install irssi" and that seemed to work. Do I still need to do what you have discovered in order for it to work properly? Forgive me, i've been using linux for about 3 months now and I'm still trying to learn the basic's :?

If you apt-get it then it should work, since its obviously in the repository.
