Rpi 256MB instead 512MB...

Hi everyone.
I ordered the Rpi June 30 and I received it 3 days ago. I'm in France.
On the invoice item description it says: Raspberry Pi Type B Single Board Computer 512MB, reference 7568308. Thats exactly what I've ordered on their website. This is the same reference if I order today on the website RS. The order was processed on 17 October.
But when I tried to overclock and change split memory, I realized that what I got was a Model B Revision 0.1 (by cat /proc/cpuinfo command)
In raspi-config I have only options for cards with 256 Mb (for example: 240MiB for ARM, 16MiB for VideoCore... etc)
What to do? Do I have to make a claim? Or is just a matter of updating?
Tell me if there are others in the same situation as me...

I'm sure there are plenty of others in the same situation as you. After all, there's no "sticky post" regarding this and no mention of it in the official wiki as far as I'm aware.

And various forum topics regarding updates required to use the 512MB. I think they are still sorting it out, but I'm not sure.

First lets determine what hardware you actually have, then we will know whether you have a software issue or a hardware one.

Does the board have mounting holes?
What is the part number on the memory chip (on top of the processor)? In Particular does it say "2G" or "4G"

Yes(!!!) I have the mounting holes (2 big holes in the card ?) and yes I have K4P4G324EB-AGCI written on top of the processor!

So you do have a 512MB Pi which means you have a software problem.

It seems the new firmware isn't in the apt repo yet so i'd suggest using hexxeh's rpi-update. https://github.com/Hexxeh/rpi-update

How ask for replace with the right one?

You could not have ordered a 512 on 25th June - the 512's were only announced in October. So in fact you have received exactly what you ordered. Sorry.

Your ordered took 17 weeks and you got a 256MB from RS. People that ordered 12 weeks ago are getting 512MB's from RS. That is how they decided to reward those who waited for their RasPii, instead of canceling and ordering elsewhere. Unfortunately there is nothing that RS will do for you.

You got the 256MB you ordered. Others were treated better!

The OP ordered his almost a week after you and he received a 512MB board. So RS really did not have ryhme or reason as to how they shipped the old boards out. I ordered mine on July 7.

I waited 15 weeks and got a Revision 1.0 board. I got exactly what I ordered too.

Yes, it sucks. But we can't do anything about it I'm afraid. Or RS who's dispatch procedure seems to be unusual to say the least.

I d'ont know if this is a coincidence but I got tired of waiting and I sent an email saying that they sent the Rpi or they repaid me, in response to an email RS sent me saying that I had to wait a few weeks again.
It was beginning to make a long wait!!

Rpi ordered on : 30/06/2012 (despatch expected within 12 weeks)
Email from RS saying to wait yet 4 weeks maximum : 28/08/2012
Email I sent to repaid me : 7/10/2012
Rpi sent : 17/10/2012

Voilà!

How ask for replace with the right one?

If you are really unhappy, and placed the order as a person (not a company), you can simply send it back within 7 days and ask a refund.
No need to provide a reason, other than point to EU distance selling regulations...

Downside is that you will have to wait for a new Pi again, if you order a new one.

What's the problem? You got exactly what you ordered! Besides if you have questions why RS does what it does do you really think posters here will have the answer? Better ask them (RS) directly through their customer support, don't you think?

If it makes you feel better: I ordered what must be one of the last Pies with 256MB, for two days later the 512MB version was all over the place. But then it doesn't make any difference for the use I make of it and if it did I wouldn't have ordered it in the first place.

Except Vic@RS promised all orders shipped after 151012 would be Rev 2 512 MB! Sorry I don't know how to refer to the actual post, but this is copied and pasted asis:
