News articles and blog posts about Raspberry Pi
I was just pointed at that on Twitter - *really* chuffed.

Really interesting, in-depth article on what we're trying to do here. Interviews with David, Alan and Eben.

"What’s more, it’s trivial to produce a variant with a VGA output, allowing Raspberry Pi to work with CRT and older flatscreen monitors that are creeping towards obsolescence."
I had the impression that this was not done on the current RasPi, because it was *not* trivial, at least from a cost perspective.

It's all a matter of perspective
When you're having to count every nickle and dime then a cost that most people would consider trivial quickly becomes a deal breaker

From a marketing and PR magazine in Australia: I am VERY PROUD of the marketing and PR work I've done on Raspi, and this article made me swell up with pride like one of those self-inflating frogs.

"ZX Spectrum"s chief designers reunited 30 years on"
" Talk of computers today and many people think of games consoles or PCs that run ready-made applications. Even in UK classrooms programming fell out of fashion. That appears to be changing - but how much was lost?"
"Altwasser: I"m an engineer so I"m delighted at the thought that people are going to be encouraged through the availability of the Raspberry Pi to learn to do programming. If I look at the capability of that machine -the graphics pixel rate is 140 times greater, the processor speed is 200 times greater, there"s thousands of times more memory.
So you would think the speed and power of that device compared with the ZX Spectrum gives it every possible advantage. But my impression is that the attention span of young people over the last 30 years has probably not lengthened.
What is important is not the technical speed of the device but the speed with which a user can get their computer out of a box and type in their first programme."

ShiftRunStop is a podcast we really like. They interview Eben here, which makes us like them even more. It's a nice casual (and very informative - I think there's some stuff in here that you won't have heard before) chat, recorded in the week after the CE testing. Start at six minutes in:

That was interesting and informative. He does interview well, doesn't he?
Well, obviously *I* think he does, but I'm biased.
Here's the first from what we hope will be a growing batch of press reviews (the boards went out to journos last week).

Not that I begrudge him the courtesy - he did a lot to tell us about the Pi last May! Its a good article too....

The device arrived with an SD card loaded with a Linux operating system and various demos.

I'm just a bouncer, splatterers do it with more force.....
He did indeed - and I doubt very much that there would be a Raspberry Pi now without Rory.

You cannot order right now, because there is no stock and a large waiting list, but you can "pre-order" or "express interest" here:

http://uk.rs-online.com/web/ge.....aspberrypi
Volume manufacturing is underway and we are told that order backlogs should be worked through in the coming months.
