Is there other Raspberry Pi forums out there?

My question is mostly selfish, because i like raspberry pi and maybe some day i will get my own (i'm on waiting list). But this forum is hard to read and very difficult to follow because one of the baddest forum engines out there (simple:press) and one of it's most bad layouts.

I think we need some good forum with good functions and good GUI for Raspberry pi. I think Raspberry pi foundation didn't realize that this forum would be anything more than a place to answer some questions and therefore they did not install any good forum engine :(

So is there any good and live forum to raspberry pi ?

I think you may be right about that! It was fine when there were only 500 members :)

A move to phpBB is imminent - see http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1105 for details.

Yeah, I was wondering if there was an official Raspberry Pi IRC channel anywhere?

Along with this forum, I have also been reading the Newark/ElementI4 forum.  In particular, I have been following the thread pertaining to cases for the pi.

Because no-one on here has been posting about pi cases?

NO, because some suppliers who are using
Newark/ElementI4 as their distribution network follow and post on
their forum. That means if I find something I like, I can order it in
the USA, without going through the hassles of international shipping
and PayPal (Extra cost, wait time, etc). Besides, I do not rely on
any single forum, internet site or piece of documentation to gather
information for decisions I might make.

There's also:

http://www.raspberrypiforums.com/

http://www.edugeek.net/forums/.....pi-forums/

http://raspberrymod.com/

I'm not sure if they each have a certain focus, or what.   I just saved them as bookmarks when I had heard of them.

Shameless plug, sorry!

http://www.rpiforum.net

It's a news / reviews / downloads / community site, rather than "just a forum".

EG: round-up of all the latest RPI news from around the web (http://www.rpiforum.net)

We've our own CDN which we mirror download files (so fast download speeds! : http://www.rpiforum.net/forum/files/

Currently building a reviews section, at the moment it's just got cases in there, but it'll grow as and when the aftermarket scene kicks off: http://www.rpiforum.net/forum/reviews/

And of course, the community forums: http://www.rpiforum.net/forum/index/

Very shortly a blog section will go live for people to blog about their projects as well.

Oh – the good old days when there were only 500 of us…..  8-)

Yes, as can be seen from the front page blog, we should have been migrated to phpbb this week, only Eben didn't take the ssh credentials with him on his trip to the US and so its in abeyance until next week (the cats can't read and, despite milk commercials, haven't developed opposable thumbs yet…).

There's an extended culture around the Pi emerging as more people get their hands on one and want to share their experiences. Some are well populated, OTOH visiting some is like walking into an bare house, all emptiness and echos… But variety is good!

:-)
I'm just a bouncer, splatterers do it with more force.....
