Wireless keyboard

Can"t seem to find anything on the RS site about what peripherals will be available. I'd like a small wireless keyboard (with trackball or maybe separate mouse). Been having a look on Ebay and found item no 370506970516. Description mentions it's compatible with Linux so can I assume this would be ok for the Raspberry Pi? Would it be plug & play or would I need drivers? Or can anyone recommend something similar?

Unfortunately neither RS or Farnell have a list of what is compatible

You can look on the wiki or the forum to see what has been tested so far by people but for the most part we won't know until we get the pi's and more people can test

Generally a keyboard, mouse etc. should be ok due to generic drivers but can't guarantee it

also just because something says linux doesn't mean it will work, it also needs to be compiled for ARM and the specific ARM version the pi has iirc

I tried to use the Microsoft 800 wireless mouse and keyboard with #7.

The keyboard does not work correctly. Its like keys are getting stuck. The same keyboard runs under linux fine on my PC.

Will see if I can get the wiki updated for this keyboard/mouse.

what other kb's have you tried? I assume a generic wired keyboard is fine?

I'm currently using a PS/2 to USB adapter cable. Works great.

Have also tried a 'generic' wired USB keyboard. No problems with that one.

It would be good if you could use something like a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse with their tiny USB transmitter/receiver, and I would be very interested to know if one of those would work or not.

does it support linux? (not necesarily ARM as that info isn't always available)

Every wireless keyboard/mouse I have ever seen are just HID devices and will work.

Or they're Bluetooth and will work, but will need a bit of extra software/configuration.

Tested the Microsoft 800 wireless mouse and keyboard again last night. Keyboard still inst working correctly.

Nice unit, Bluetooth auto connect with track pad and back lit keyb for under £20. compact. built in rechargeable battery too… says it supports debian 3.1 but will that mean from 3.1 or just 3.1…?

This is the one I want to use.  Claims to be Linux compatible.  Is that enough ??

Having a similar issue with my Microsoft wireless keyboard. Sometimes the keys go sticky, others non responsive. Nothing too drastic at the moment though.

I bought this one:

It works fine on a pc with windows 7.

It works on a PS3.

I can't say whether it works on the Raspberry Pi, as mine hasn't arrived yet.

BUT: I have an old pc loaded with Debian Squeeze + LXDE (following Liam's tutorial, missing out the VirtualBox bits) and the keyboard works out of the box with it, no problems.

As a keyboard it's fine, although IMHO it's too small to use as a main keyboard. The touchpad is a bit fussy, but I've got clumsy fingers!

They now do  one with a built in IR controller instead of the laser, I would have bought that one if I'd known about it:

Also a bluetooth version and a wireless one without the laser or IR.

The Microsoft wireless keyboard 800 does not work for me either - same problem as if the keys are stuck then crashes the Pi.

Anyone tried the Logitech K260 and M210 keyboard and mouse?

Keep in mind that wireless keyboards and mice require power (significant?) for the receiver. Sticking keys and crashing Pi's make me think the Pi power supply is marginal. It would help if posters with problems would identify the power supply they are using.

I'm using Trust Wireless Deskset Keyboard and mouse set (£12 from Home Bargains) , with Pi powered from TV usb

The Logitech K400 wireless keyboard works ok, has a pad so don't need the mouse.

I use Masterplug SRGDU42PW as my power source, for raspi and monitor.

I rather like the look of the Logitech K400, as mentioned above, but no one in the UK appears to have them in stock at the moment.

Perhaps they have all been bought by Raspberry Pi enthusiasts!

Does anyone know of any sources for these please?

I was lucky enough to get a special offer from Logitech Direct (I have a Harmony One remote) with 35% off, so got one for €25.99 inc p&p - works fine with an old laptop.

But - I haven't got a Pi yet....boo hoo!

Thanks, but I had already just seen that one.

By the time you have added p&p it come out at nearly £42, which is a bit more than I wanted to pay really.

Like a lot of others on here, I haven't received my Pi yet anyway, and as it will be quite a few more weeks before I do, I think I will hang on for a better deal!
