Hi guys,

my problem is that ssh doesn't work anymore for me between 2 raspis on different networks :(
It began since the last application update (2 or 3 months ago? more or less).
I receive the well known: ssh_exchange_identification!!

pi@raspberrypi:~$ ssh -vv -p 2222 pi@151.41.xxx.xxx
OpenSSH_6.0p1 Debian-4, OpenSSL 1.0.1e 11 Feb 2013
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: /etc/ssh/ssh_config line 19: Applying options for *
debug2: ssh_connect: needpriv 0
debug1: Connecting to 151.41.xxx.xxx [151.41.xxx.xxx] port 2222.
debug1: Connection established.
debug1: identity file /home/pi/.ssh/id_rsa type -1
debug1: identity file /home/pi/.ssh/id_rsa-cert type -1
debug1: identity file /home/pi/.ssh/id_dsa type -1
debug1: identity file /home/pi/.ssh/id_dsa-cert type -1
debug1: identity file /home/pi/.ssh/id_ecdsa type -1
debug1: identity file /home/pi/.ssh/id_ecdsa-cert type -1
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host

I really need ssh :( please help me 'cause on the server side I do not see anything wrong on hosts.allow/deny or /var/run directory permissions....
On local network it works like a charm but port 2222 is properly forwarded on my router so it SHOULD work..

thanx!

Try to rename (or even remove) the folders .ssh on both home folders and check if the problem is solved:
Code: Select all
cd
ls -la .ssh
mv .ssh ssh
Best regards,

Just tried this and no luck ... I'm restarting my router (just in case) but I'm afraid I'll have to brutally unplug it

I believe this link could help you:

http://edoceo.com/notabene/ssh-exchange-identification

I have seen a couple of cases where problem was solved adding this line to file /etc/hosts.allow

Code: Select all
sshd: ALL
