unable to save nano files when ssh'ing

Hi there,

Please can any one help?

I have my RasperryPi connected to my home router. I am connection to the Raspi via my Nexus 10 running an app called Juice SSH. This allows me to login as the pi user and navigate the pi directory structure.
I wanted to modify /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf using nano.
If I nano the above file or sudo nano, nano appears to halt when I do Ctrl x and select y and hit enter to save. I have tried chmod 777 on the proftpf.conf file and thishas no effect.

Is there an issue with my router?

Many thanks
Andy

I don't have any experience with a Nexus, so I can't try to replicate this, but I suggest that there might be a conflict between your ssh app and Ctrl-X. [That is, I don't think it is nano, or file permissions, or your router.] More likely that Ctrl-X is being 'seen' and acted on by the nexus and not forwarded to the network.

To narrow this down, perhaps try Ctrl-X at a simple shell prompt on the Pi. If my suspicions are correct that alone will cause a problem.

Are there any configuration options for ssh on the nexus to allow control codes to be forwarded rather than interpreted locally?

Juice SSH has a pop up keyboard extension which allows me to get to the first stage of the saving process. And prompts for the y or n option.

Is it ignoring the Enter key from searches it appears this was the last reported bug http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2045723 not sure if it has been fixed or not.

It definitely is not your Router and permissions seem too hard to diagnose as there is no evidence that it is even trying to send the data to save the file. Do you receive any errors? Do you return to a prompt after 'Y'? Does nano attempt to close after saving?

As far as CTRL not sure since you get prompted to save the file could just be lag.

Hi guys,

I have just installed connect not and ssh'd via this app and all appears to work well.

I will continue with connect not, but would be interested to see if there is a fix for my problem.

Kind regards
Andy

Any ideas how I move the cursor in nano when using my nexus 10 tablet via connect not.
I notice I can scroll the page by sliding my finger on the left of the touch screen.

Are there similar features for moving the cursor?

I usually sudo nano then use F3 and ENTER to save. Then F2 to quit.

Can you emulate/simulate these keys on your Nexus?

But some gesture controls would be nice for scrolling.
