Is the 512meg version really worth getting? I want to use it for a irc client and thats about it. I have the 256 meg version but it still a bit slow.

There is no difference other than twice the memory, the SoC is no faster so unless you are running out of RAM there would be no advantage to having the half gig version.

As an IRC Client, you probably won't notice the difference. I use my two 256MB and one 512MB interchangeably. Its still the same slow processor.

I just ordered my 4th Pi, Back to 256MB with a Model A.
Don't judge Linux by the Pi.......

An IRC client won't require much processor at all. How you managed to make a Pi slow using it as an IRC client, I have no idea!- Just use a model A.
