Hi I just got around to trying my Rpi and when plugging in the power supply the power led wont light and therefore wont boot.
I was wondering if the power supply I'm using is suitable. It's a mobile phone charger from my ZTE phone brought in Australia. It's rated at 5v 700ma.
I was just trying to see if the power light would come on first before continuing.
I also have tried a usb cable from my pc to see if it would show the power light.

So am I doing something wrong or what?

Edit: I notice the micro usb connectors are not flush against the micro usb port which on the phone they are. Maybe there slightly longer but work in the phone ok?

The power LED is driven directly from the power lines (3.3V if I remember correctly.)

You certainly have a problem somewhere, but that power supply sounds OK. Does it still charge your phone?

Your PC may not supply enough power.

Yes it powers the phone (read my edit). I am thinking it might be longer usb connectors.
Will have to look now on the web to see what they should look like.
