Hi, is it possible to install a prolog interpreter?
I tried to install SWI-Prolog starting from the source code as described here -> http://www.swi-prolog.org/build/unix.html , but at the end it says that the xpm library is not installed and i have to install it but i don't know what to do.

you will need to install the dev version of the xpm library. To do that use the following:-
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install libxpm-dev

Ok, I've done what you sayed and then i tried again but the problem still remain:

*****************************************************************
* ERROR: Could not load/find library -lXpm. *
* Please install the XPM library and rerun configure. *
* *
* Please check the following: *
* *
* - Do you have the development version of the library? *
* - Is the library you have of the right architecture? *
* - Could it be that other parts of X11 are missing? *
* (typically the case if -lXext is also missing) *
* *
* Examine packages/xpce/src/config.log for details *
* Linux users: check README.linux for dependencies *
* (note that the exact package names vary between *
* distributions and versions). *

Ok wait, I tried sudo apt-get install swi-prolog and it works, now i've to find the way to open emacs!
In windows version, I open the standard editor just writing "emacs." into the interpreter...

I've to find how to do the same thing here... :?

Ok I found it!

Here the correct steps:

1) installing swi-prolog: sudo apt-get install swi-prolog

2) launch the interpreter: swipl

3) start the editor: emacs.

I've to try some program to see how it works bot for now is ok :)
