Hey guys, my old version of Xbian worked well with windows. i could see it on my network and access its files.

Recently I reflashed the SD with Xbian 1.0A3 but I can't see Xbian under under 'Network' in 'my computer'

any ideas? do i have to turn something on? or unhide the pi or something?

thanks

yeh it's weird, when i installed Xbian 1.0 alpha 2 - it worked straight away!!

Maybe alpha 3 doesn't include samba.

anyway I installed samba - Now i can see 'Xbian' under windows network, but when i click on it, it says it cant connect. I think its something go to do with permissions.

How do I tell Xbian/samba to share all its files with all users on the local network??? I dont know the command

thanks very much for your help!!!

Best way I know of is to edit the smb.conf file to tell samba what to share. IIRC it should be in /etc/samba/smb.conf or somewhere close to that.

Agreed, there are plenty of samba guides on the web. This is not a samba forum.
