Ampache (not Apache)

Hi.

Yesterday my RPi finally arrived ( in Germany) and it's great.

I wonder if I could get an ampache server running (http://ampache.org/). I wasn't able to install it from the AUR, because there's no ARM compiled version. Though Google told me there are some folks out there hosting an ampache service on ARM.

Has anybody here tried this already or got some expertise?

If not, is there any similar software which would allow me to easily stream my whole music collection e.g. to my smartphone?

regards.

Thanks Paul,

looks interesting, but similar to e.g. MPD, which could likely do the job streaming media - just not really as good as I imagine it.
Imho it's still not as convenient as ampache, which brings a lot of sophisticated android apps and plugins like last-fm scrobbling.

I went to the ampache forums as well and will post here any progressions about this topic.

I use mpd with client175.

I also tried mpd with groovebasin for a while and that worked well too.

Ampache looks entirely possible since you basically just need a LAMP server configuration.

Ampache streams quite well on my Raspi 512 (audio only so far; haven't tested video). Helper script (or guide, depending on how you use it) at https://github.com/ghoulmann/Ampache-Raspi-Helper.
