Hi,
please note that the V1 board has been replaced by the V2 due to a change in display module from HY28A to HY28B.
The prices are the same at £25 for the assembled boad and £12 for the custom case, plus postage.
Setup instructions are slightly changed to the different display type and can be found here :

Contact me directly for availability.
Thanks,
Texy

Thanks again for the awesome board texy, ever since I saw this post, I began working on some python touchscreen apps, and now my school electronic assistant is finally done. As well as being a great practice at designing applications in python, I now have a mp3/4 player, scientific programmable calculator, reminder and calendar, text editor and internet browser in my backpack. All touch screen friendly and easy to use. Thanks for the awesome hardware texy!

Hi Texy,
I bought one of your 2.8" hy28b LCDs off ebay and I really need another assembled one (no case).

Sorry couldn't seem to message you directly.

PS it has even a real eye opener. I'm working on a kind of easy os using pygame, it's making linux a dream for me and given me the motivation to move from C# only to python. Hardly a big leap but takes a project to really embrace something.

hi Texy,

I got the pi with the screen working perfectly with raspbian.
The thing im trying now is to make it work with retropie (emulationstation).
But when i boot the emulationstation i just get a blackscreen, to see wath was going on i plugged the hdmi in and could see the emulationstation. When I started any of the games i played on the hdmi , except one game (duke nukem 3d) started on the screen and was playable on it. So i guess it can work with the screen ells that one game wouldnt work neither.
Do you have any idea how i can make it fully work on the screen?

thx,
-Shaoq

Hi,
you need to force retropie to output to fb1 (where the TFT is driven from). You could try using a background app called fbcp to do this perhaps, or contact the creators of retropie for other solutions.

hi,

thanks for the fast reply :D
I don't know how to make the fbcp backround app (kinda new to this).
So you maiby got an idea how it would look like or how i could make this?

ps: I dit some research and the only thing that I found out is that : if you start the emulationstation and all you see is a white screen wiht a blackdot (wath is wath is happening now) the OpenGL is failing for some reason... maiby this can help to find a solution?

thanks,

It appears that 2.8" display is only a general-purpose display that does NOT use the RasPi Display DSI port.
In fact, from the photos, it appears that it uses up ALL of the GPIO pins.
I guess we are still waiting for the DSI-port solution with no ETA.

As someone new to the RasPi scene (although not to electronics or micro controllers) it seems to me that this community (or maybe just this forum?) are rather short on hard technical documentation and discussion. I would have thought the RasPi was out there for long enough to develop a more complete body of published information. But maybe the proprietary nature of the controller is a dampening factor here in Pi-land. Or is there a more technical forum for the Pi somewhere else?

Richard,
Please take the time to read the first post of this thread before making such sweeping statements. Clearly this display is not intended to use the DSI port, but also it does not use all of the GPIO ports lines either, just because it connects to the pi's GPIO port. I suggest you take your comments to a new thread.
Thanks
Texy

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was hoping to find a schematic diagram or at least a pin-out list to answer two immediate questions:
1) What GPIO pins does the display use?
2) How do I access the remaining GPIO pins if the display cable/connector appears to occlude the entire GPIO connector?

Are there schematic diagrams and/or pin-out lists somewhere in this website? I have been searching, but not finding much hard technical data. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong places. Can someone help me navigate through this website?

I have several of the Model B boards and I plan on building some live/media production related projects with them.

Richard,
The display board information can be found in this post :
http://www.raspberrypi.org/forum/viewto ... 45&t=64993
The specific information you are after is mention in this paragraph :
"Screen and TP use hardware SPI ( SLCK, MOSI, MISO, CE0 & CE1 ) plus 3 additional GPIO lines ( GPIO17, GPIO18 & GPIO25 ), keeping the other GPIO lines free for other uses - the pcb has a 'breakout' GPIO port to connect too."
Search the forum or google for the gpio pinout diagram of the Pi.
To access the unused gpio pins the display board has a gpio port pass- through connector so that you can attach additional hardware using those unused pins. You'll find some more pictures on my eBay listing :
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 1447185030

Hope this helps

Hi texy.

I messaged you on eBay and tried to pm you but I don't seem to be authorised to do that.

Maybe if I post here I can try again.

Hey texty,
I am interested in a board, still have any left? I will try and send a PM.

I also have a question about it, can you give the dimensions (width/height) of the tft display, and also of the shield board that attaches to the screen? It looks like the board is slightly larger then the display.

I have a very tight space I am trying to fit this display in. Not sure it will fit.
