Hey Everyone,

First time me writing here and I just wanted to say, that I really can"t wait to finally have my own Raspberry Pi with me :D So much so that I had to simply make, create something that involves the Raspberry. Well this isn"t really a project or a collaboration regarding the Raspberry Pi itself…  I am kinda" into graphics so I decided to spend my evening (and part of the night) with creating a 3D version of the raspberry logo in Blender. I really hope you like it! I created a 1 minute FullHD 1080p MPEG (16:9) video and a DVD 576p (4:3) one, with 19 times recurrence of the rendered 79 frame animation (with 25 FPS.) There"s also a youtube link and you can download the .blend file if you"d like to edit it in any way. So I publish it OpenSource and you can use it any way you would like. :) Feedback is most welcome :)

1080p MPEG [69,4 MB]:  [link]
576p MPEG [30,5 MB]:  [link]
YouTube Link: [link]

.blend file:  [link]

Good to be part of the community!

Cheers,
Antario.

Why is it so long? It just turns around over and over again...

With all due respect Antario's actually matches the R-pi logo in spot positioning. Plugging your own effort with the 'came earlier' claim doesn't make it any better quality.

And to Antario - Brilliant! Thanks for sharing the model, now I just need to get some time with a 3D printer :D

I didn't write that my video is better, in any way.

I just wanted to state that there was a previous topic with the same subject. And avoid duplicate threads.

It aint bad but the back changes colour and at the end it jumps back a frame or two, so it turns a bit to far and then starts again

Thank you very much for the feedback and interest, there"s no need to be harsh, though ;) Thank you, qubit, for taking the time and creating the GIF animations, although they aren"t bad at all, I took the liberty to create some more. I"ve also redesigned the model a bit, and added versions with outline (my brother helped a LOT here :D thanks for him!) and specular lighting, too :D So here they are:

Animated GIFs

(supported almost everywhere, but no anti-aliased transparency is possible)

Black Background, No Outline, Flat Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Transparent Background, No Outline, Flat Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Black Background, Outline, Flat Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Transparent Background, Outline, Flat Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Now come all these with Specular…

Black Background, No Outline, Specular Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Transparent Background, No Outline, Specular Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Black Background, Outline, Specular Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Transparent Background, Outline, Specular Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Animated PNGs

(supported in Firefox, Opera and even Google Chrome with a plugin, FULL transparency and anti-aliasing)

Transparent Background, No Outline, Flat Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Transparent Background, Outline, Flat Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Now come all these nasty APNGs with Specular… ;)

Transparent Background, No Outline, Specular Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

Transparent Background, Outline, Specular Logo

sizes: [50x50px] [64x64px] [128x128px] [256x256px]

So there you are, 2 format, 4 size, 4 design, 2 lighting combinations, so 48 different rotating 3D raspberries :D (I personally like the specular, outlined APNGs.)

Your feedback is still very welcome and I really hope that you find them useful, because again I spend most of the night making these for you. (Not that it wasn"t fun anyways. :P )

Oh and PS: I've updated the .blend file and added the on with the specular lighting, too, so here you are these, too: [raspberry.blend] [raspberry_specular.blend]

Some really great work done there indeed!

I'm sure many forums will now have R-Pi avatars spinning all over the place :-)

They look great! Thank you very much for your work! :)

What did you use to make the gifs?

My pleasure :D

I used GIMP 2.6 :) and the gimp-apng plugin for making the APNGs.

I think that I may adapt this to use as my loading cursor on the R-Pi! I'l upload a link as soon as it is available.

nice idea :)

Also, it's in the wiki (in sig)! I set your forum user as creator, but if you like your real name there, you can change it:)

Please can you upload them to somewhere else as well as dropbox because they currently are out of bandwith and are unaccsessable.

OK. I trust deviantArt more than imageshack, so I have uploaded them to my Sta.sh

All the animations can be found here: http://sta.sh/#stack=264mkup8sf6

The blends file can be downloaded here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JSB3U4KZ

The 256x256 versions don"t have a preview for some reason, but they can be downloaded none the less :D (also the APNG versions are still on the preview, but they animate fine when downloaded)

I really didn"t see my Dropbox public link suspension coming, sorry for that! *blushes*

Oh and PS: Thank you Ultralade, it is indeed a nice idea, I'm waiting for the link; and thank you, too, Alpaca for uploading it to the Wiki page :D

These are really good. Never mind having one of them as a loading cursor on my Pi when I get it. I might do the same on my current computer out of sheer anticipation!

Alas, as of now there is no more megaupload.com.

Could try a torrent?
