Hi,

I've been following a few other posts about connecting LCD's and http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=82643#p82643 in particular caught my attention since it seemed to me that my LCD (http://www.lcd-module.com/eng/pdf/doma/dip204-4e.pdf) would fit.

This is my first attempt to connect anything to the GPIO of my Raspi.

I would like to know if anyone else has experience with this particular LCD (I believe it is based on Samsung's KS0073 controller) and would like to share the adventure.

Basically I'd like to keep some vital info displayed, like IP address, since my use case will be a headless system.

Cheers

It should word, your display is HD44780 compatible. You can also consider hooking your display up to this module: http://www.bitwizard.nl/catalog/product ... ucts_id=68
This gives your display an SPI interface, and enables you to use this program: http://www.bitwizard.nl/wiki/index.php/ ... CD_program
Then it's just a case of "sudo bw_lcd -T 0,0 `hostname -I`" to print your IP address.
