We had the first PiSWWUG meeting last night in Swansea, some great people with fantastic ideas showed up. Really looking forward to the next one which we are now all working together to arrange. If you live in South West Wales and want to know more about Raspberry Pi, hook up with like minded folk, or share what you know, you are most welcome!

Here's the blurb from the 1st meeting:

The South West Wales User Group is an open community for those who own, use, or are simply interested in the Raspberry Pi. Meetings are held on the first Friday of every month, 7pm, in Swansea.

Our first meeting will be held on Friday, June 1st 7pm at the Pub on the Pond in Swansea, near Swansea University.

Whether you have a problem with your Pi, an idea that you seek help with, or wish to share your knowledge on a subject related to the Raspberry Pi, everyone is welcome.

Stay tuned for details of the 2nd meeting!

Our third meeting will take place on August 3rd, 7pm at the Pub on the Pond. There will be live demonstrations of the Pi on a 50" plasma, and everyone is welcome to contribute in their own way.

Details are at http://www.picymru.com/swwug

The number of attendees is pleasantly growing and with the advent of yesterday's Raspberry Jam in Cardiff, PiSWWUG have put out the call for others to start user groups across the other regions of Wales, with the hope that we can build a network of Welsh groups together.

I'm going to have to try to come to this! The 7th is my birthday though, so other plans may interfere, if not, I'll gladly spend my birthday geeking out!

The next Pi meet is on Friday, September 7th, 7pm, Pub on the Pond.

If it's your birthday I'll buy you some chips (edible, not micro.) :)

Our next meeting will take place, as usual, on the first Friday of the month; October 5th 2012, 7pm at the Pub on the Pond in Swansea.

Family friendly, open to everyone. We try to wrap things up around 9pm so ensure to arrive early. The pub does serve great food so you can eat whilst Pi'ing around.

... and I'm hoping to reveal my mad hatter attempts at building a Welsh language OS. ;)

For the first time visit, the favoured table is found by going in the entrance from the road and its on a raised platform opposite the first part of a very long bar !

An A4 picture of a Raspberry may be found flat on the table or in the vertical 'menu' holder.

Also a warm and friendly welcome is assured !

Its to control the hardware ports.
