I'm trying to get bluez-simple-agent to run, but alas I am having no luck. I am able to scan with my bluetooth dongle, I've installed python, pygobject, and dbus-python. When I run bluez-simple-agent, I get the following error:

Code: Select all
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/bluez-simple-agent", line 5, in <module>
    from gi.repository import GObject
ImportError: No module named gi.repository

So I have no module called gi.repository it seems. One thread suggests installing python3-gi, but arch for arm doesn't seem to have this. I've tried reinstalling packages, and removing python3 and leaving python2, but I've had no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

I discovered what went wrong, I needed to install python-gobject and python2-gobject.

yea not on the raspi , but I have been building a fresh install of Arch on my laptop to better understand EVERYTHING.

some dependencies I needed;

######################
bluez (obviously)
python
gtk2
gtk3

dbus-glib
dbus-python
python-pybluez
python-dbus
python-gobject
python2-dbus
python2-gobject
pygobject
pygobject-devel
pygobject2-devel
gobject-introspection
#####################

Now that iv learnt a little more from the bottom up regarding bluetooth, ill continue on the raspi and get my PS3 controller as both an input device and joystick (for emu)

## there is a PKGBUILD in the AUR
http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32351&detail=1
(read the comments there for needed dependencies)

Really useful info thanks - i'll give this a try.

Have you tried bluez-test-agent? I want to make my raspi "discoverable"...
