Hi.

I have my Raspberry Pi model B.

I would like to use an external hard drive (probably NAS) to save my music, documents, movies and games. The external hard drive should be accessible via the Network.

Is it possible to get the future OpenELEC (XMBC OS basically) handle this drive as a physical drive connected?

And for my external drive, are there any requirements? I know USB 3.0 isn't needed as it's only connected to the switch or something.

Greetings & thanks in advance,

It really depends on how exactly the NAS you get is set up. Preferably it will support NFS and you can easily mount it from your Pi. Any NAS (except maybe Apple's...) will probably support SMB/CIFS, the Windows networking protocol. OpenELEC should support this directly in the user interface, but if you want to avoid that and make it think it's local storage, it's also supported by Linux and you could mount it in the local filesystem somewhere and then tell OpenELEC to look there.

Oh, so 99% chance it's supported? Great! Thanks :-)

And any further requirements for the Disk? :)
