M.I.T(Massachusetts Institute of Technology) The birth place of the GNU project now offers Free and Open education. In this link is their intro to computer sciences course which apart of it teaches the Python programming language. I haven't gone though the whole course yet but it seems very interesting and good place to start if one is looking to self educate.

Hope this helps some one.

:D Thanks very much for the link. Looks really good. I see though that it says you must install Python version 2 not 3.

Ya, the course is a little outdated but hey it's a good start, there should be more free education! I learned most of every thing I know via the Internet and before that I was dialling into BBSes and going to library. Self education is much easier nowadays and I feel that it is a much better way then classic school education of a teacher tossing out information and having the student regurgitate it back with out ever really comprehending the ideas and information.
Project Euler is another great tool for learning any programming language as it challenges one to write code to solve problems. http://www.projecteuler.net
