Greetings, I purchased this fingerprint sensor http://www.adafruit.com/products/751
and I put it to work perfectly with arduino .. my question is whether if is possible to connect with a
raspberry pi and more or less how this would be possible.
thank you very much in advance for your response

If you disable the serial console (update /boot/cmdline.txt and /etc/inittab to remove /dev/ttyAMA0 http://www.raspberry-projects.com/pi/pi ... /uart-pins) then you should be able to connect that TTL serial device on the UART pins RX 15 TX 14, 3V3 Vcc & GND.

There's even a script at: https://github.com/lurch/rpi-serial-console to query, disable and enable the serial console.

You should be able to get some data from the fingerprint scanner with:
Code: Select all
import serial
ser = serial.Serial("/dev/ttyAMA0")
read = ser.read()
print read
ser.close()
