Hey,

Is there a way i can use the raspberry pi to stream my PVR computer to my upstairs tv using the pi?

I would like to be able to stream and control the downstairs computer using a generic remote.

Would it be good enough quality to watch live freeview on remote desktop? And would i have sound ??

you can stream 1080p AV to and from the pi (assuming h264).
you could use vlc for all this (server, client, remote),
or you could use xbmc.

What you want is nearly impossible.
You must have the same resources as OnLive or Gaikai to have a pleasant PVR experience.
VNC and others are just toooo slooooooo o o w.
There is a thing called VirtualGL - it sounds old and complicated.

I forgot that there are HDMI transmitter sets !
They cost around 200 $ , AFAIK. 30 metres inside should be doable with them.

Do you really need to stream the screen output of your PVR ?
Wouldn't be streaming (incl. transcoding) of single files enough -
with a remote control app on the Pi ?
