ipython notebook unstable? (ipython kernel keeps crashing)

Hi,

I'm trying to use the ipython notebook running on my pi as a persistent testing ground for new code, whether I'm at work, home, my brothers house etc. I use dynamic DNS to point it back to my home network and port forward to my Pi. All this works fine, however I appear unable to run any code?

I've used ipython notebook may times on both linux and Windows, but for some reason I can't seem to get it running stable on my pi.

I'm tried the most simple statement possible:
Code: Select all
print "Hello World!"

I've also tried:
Code: Select all
import this

But whatever I run results in a message box which says:
Dead Kernel.
The kernel has died, would you like to restart it? If you do not restart the kernel, you will be able to save the notebook, but running code will not work until the notebook is reopened.

I'm running up to date Raspbian, nothing custom at all on a 256Mb Model B.

Has anyone else come across this issue yet?

This has come up on the ipython-dev mailing list. I've just tried installing ipython on Raspbian 3.19 (it was a standard image download from December time) using
Code: Select all
apt-get install ipython-notebook
. It all seems to work fine for me. How have you installed ipython?

Hi,

I installed ipython using:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install ipython ipython-notebook

It all works fine, except for stability issues.

However, I'm now thinking it is my pi that has stability issues rather than ipython notebook, as my ssh sessions to it periodically just freeze up completely.

I also am having stability issues running the notebook. I used the following to install ipython3 notebook.

sudo apt-get install ipython3 ipython3-notebook

The install completed with no obvious issues. If I can't resolve the hang-up issue I'll need to try another
Python shell.

Please let me know if you find any hints that may help.
