That was just crossing my mind ... but now it's too late.

Sad.

I too have a problem with a seemingly corrupt file. On linux

End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.

unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of debian6-19-04-2012.zip or
debian6-19-04-2012.zip.zip, and cannot find debian6-19-04-2012.zip.ZIP, period.

Could it be that the file is corrupt on one or more mirrors? And that this may be why some people have succeeded in downloading ok and others haven't?

If you are in doubt , check the SHA1 checksum.
On Linux , the sha1sum tool should be readily available or at least in the repos.

Note that the SHA1 checksum is provided for the .zip AND the .img file. (Look inside the .zip for latter)
