mpd and pulseaudio error on resume

Hello everyone. I'm using my pi as a home stereo system, and as you know it has that fun crackling noise on the audio jack every time it suspends. So I looked for a solution (besides buying usb speakers) and found one here:

I think I saw one other person using this setup, but I'm sure there are more. However, I seem to be having some interesting problems and I think it lies with pulseaudio. The first time I start up mpd (and it starts up a pulseaudio session) everything works great. But if I pause.... I can't play again! play only gives me:

[paused] #1/63 0:07/4:12 (2%)
volume:100% repeat: on random: off single: off consume: off
ERROR: problems opening audio device

which clearly is not good. Since this only works when I come off of idle, and I was just messing with the idle settings in pulseaudio, I'm assuming the problem is there. This might be better suited to a pulseaudio board, but the hardware problem is distinctly RP, so I thought I'd try here first. Has anyone else had this error? And thanks for the help in advance!

The fix at the link below (which worked for me) sets a really long timeout rather than disabling the module-suspend-on-idle
