Remote Control Not Detected

I have an HID Remote Control that mimics a keyboard, however raspbian wheezy does not detect this device. It has worked on other debian based distributions out-of-the box in the past.
Is an extra configuration step required for the pi?

My remote is similar to this one http://tinyurl.com/d8lqnhy

Thanks in advance.

It's a generic device but I saw "withehome" popup when I installed on a windows machine.
The Hardware IDs reported by windows are

HID\VID_04B4&PID_0100&REV_0001&Col01
HID\VID_04B4&PID_0100&Col01
HID_DEVICE_SYSTEM_KEYBOARD
HID_DEVICE_UP:0001_U:0006
HID_DEVICE

Driver Node Strong name = keyboard.inf:MS_KBD.NTamd64:HID_Keyboard_Inst:6.1.7601.17514::hid_device_system_keyboard

Thanks for your help.
