Hello,
I am new to linux but from fooling around i think i am getting a pretty good hang of most things. But, the question i have is, how in the world to i get gdm (or any display manger to run on boot). Gdm never started through the many reboots i did, and so i tried installing xdm, and changing the "default-display-manager" in etc/X11/. What am i doing wrong, and could i get a walkthrough? Thank you very much.

It depends on what distribution you're using.

Try
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm
and set gdm as the default. That should do it.

Thank you for the help. This appears to have worked with slim. I might try gdm later.
