I'm a few places behind [GoSensGo] in line, order # 162XXX, Date Order Was Placed : 29/02/12 9:25 AM. (That's EST.) Also in Canada. Let us know when you have a tracking number (or a RasPi!) so I can start getting excited.

I just got this from Element14:

Date: Tue, 1 May 2012 20:55:39 -0000

From: "Newark element14" <newark@newark.chtah.com>

To: eastpole

Subject: Great News! Your Raspberry Pi is on its way + take 15% OFF your next web order.

We're excited to inform you that your Raspberry Pi will be delivered in an upcoming shipment beginning the week of May 29th. ... blah blah blah.

So, it seems like they might be making some progress! I am still holding off ordering more until I can check out this first one, but if Debian runs OK and pulls down packages correctly, I will need half a dozen.

I got the same email late this afternoon.  Woohoo!!  I was hoping for earlier than May 29th as I have some free time on my hands at the moment, but such is life.  Now we just need Newark to follow through and give it to us.

Ordered mine at 9:28AM on 2/29/12 169xxx date of 6/18/12 so far. Good thing I ordered a Panda Board ES! it will be here by the end of this week. Looks like I will have at least a month and a half to play with it, if the date does not slip. Not much hope at this point that it will get any shorter.

Three minutes and 7,000+ I was registering with RS at 2 minutes after when it quit responding.

I got the email, it said "Week of May 29th". (Monday May 28, is a holiday in the United States.)

It also said "Please Note: The delivery date reflected in your order history on http://www.newark.com will not update until stock is received in our warehouses. The delivery date shown in this email is the most accurate delivery date we have for your order."

Naturally, this did nothing to curb my compulsive checking of newark.com to watch my "expected ship date". A couple of days ago, this changed to "09 July 2012", after its extended stay at 15 August 2012.

I suspect that the change in expected ship date means that they have more faith that the factory(ies) are capable of volume production, not that stock for my order was "received in [their] warehouses".

I have got to stop checking the order status page. It has flipped between 09 July and 16 August a couple times since the last post on May 3rd. It is showing 16 August now.

I suspect Newark's site won't have ship dates that aren't hopelessly pessimistic until volume production shipments actually start getting to their warehouses on a regular basis.

I didn't get the anticipated e-mail on the week of 30 April, so I e-mailed a polite inquiry to Newark customer service.  I received the following reply within a few hours:

Hello John,
You should receive this [your Raspi] before the end of June, we still have no exact date.  I do apologize, we do not have a list for the orders. Any further updates will be posted at the link below. Thank you for your patience.

I placed my order 4 March.  As long as I get it well before European Pi Day 22/7 I'll be happy.

Just checked out the pandaboard. pretty awesome stuff (if expensive, but you get what you pay for - it's like the Cadillac of these kinds of systems)

It looks like the expected ship dates at newark.com are being updating instead of being stuck at 16 Aug 2012. Mine now reads 3 July 2012. I ordered on 4 March 2012. So with luck I'll have my RasPi by Bastille Day, or at least by European Pi Day 22/7.

I ordered in Canada on March 4 and mine order status also just changed from Aug 16 to July 3 BUT last week Jenny advised in the front page comments that it would be shipping on May 25 so I have my fingers, and toes, crossed :D

I get an email on May 1 that says "We're excited to inform you that your Raspberry Pi will be delivered in an upcoming shipment beginning the week of June 18th."

Now I read folks are seeing updates on their account pages from August XX to something else sooner. So I just checked mine. My update is "Expected Ship Date 03 Jul 2012." That's quite a bit different from June 18th.

Also, I'm hearing of US residents who now have a Pi have been charged $50-$60 USD for the $35 device.

There is no "snarkiness" in this post. I'm just pointing out that these things are not what we expected when first hearing about the Pi. Please don't blame us for being frustrated.

*Warning... rant... not at Element 14, not at RS and not at the foundation*

I do wish that people would stop with the "My order number is xyz im not happy, i should have been in the first batch moan moan moan"

You know, my order number starts with 163... which is much much lower than the 168s that people keep going on about. Just wait for crying out loud. We all knew the first batch was 10,000... the foundation didnt know about the bad eth plugs until things where already too late and in motion, RS and Element14 groups taking on production and distribution is ultimately a good thing.

I wish that everyone who is moaning could just refrain from filling up the forums with rants because, ultimately, there is nothing anyone can do to make the process go along faster. Do you think RS or Element14 people tour the forums and go... "oh no,,, user x is not happy... quick call china... rush out a Raspberry Pi to him/her"

Someone here said it best when they stated "I am pretty sure RS and Element14 want to take your money, so it is in their best interest to get the Raspberry Pi to you."

OK rant over, and appologies for filling up the forum with a useless post... but hey, its one useless post among many many hundreds that are moaning about everything and everything... Hey, my tea went cold... im going to complain to the foundation about it!

PS... Just got an updated ship date of 29th May with Newark... and I got invited to place an order with RS.... happy times for me I guess

After a few days at June 9th, my ship date has changed to May 29th. It now matches the "week of May 29th" from the email.

So the two systems are in sync. This probably means it is actually near shipment.

I also registered interest with RS, and got the order email yesterday. RS's order page said something about shipping within three weeks.

So, it is possible I may have two of them in early June. It wasn't my intent to cheat the system. So if it actually happens, I will resell one at cost to someone else in the local maker community.

If you look at your order online it will tell you what the cost is. With postage and tax, $50 is about it. This is not new information and has been discussed in detail for almost three months now.

Whoa! Me three! Still $35 plus unspecified tax and shipping.

Just noticed the May29th ship date now on my order status. Wasn't happy when they changed it a while back from August to June.

Finally!!

It's been frustrating to say the least reading about all the lucky individuals over across the pond playing with their raspberries. I've got my fingers crossed....steady as she goes!!
