I am planning on buying one in the US + a case but I can't find where to buy from. All of the sites are Europe based.

I also see there are different models of boards.. is that different runs of the pi? a b ect

I am planning on using the pi as mumble server and sometimes to play video from an external HDD via the USB ports. I'm assuming this will work for it.. but I just can't seem to find a place to order the pi..

Also how long has it been taking you guys to get your orders I know there was a problem awhile ago with them taking forever.

The quickest current way in the US is probably Newark/Element14. However, they only have the Bud cases...which not everybody likes. For much nicer cases (IMHO), there are several choices. The two I prefer are ModMyPi (modmypi.com) who *should* be caught up now and who have a good selecttion of colors and will mix&match top and bottom colors, for a bit more. Less expensive, but with a potentially much longer wait is RS in the UK (http://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/?searchTe ... lock=Brand). They come in black, white or clear. It's the clear cases that they appear to be having trouble keeping in stock. They're also a good bit cheaper than ModMyPi.

(Disclaimer...I have some ModMyPi cases and I like them. I have some RS cases on order, but they haven't arrived yet. I also have an AdaFruit case, which is nice, but you don't want to be opening it up all the time...it's also kind of pricey.)

There are a wide variety of cases. They range from "free" (e.g.Legos or the Farnell/Newark/Element14 box with holes cut in it) to nearly as much as a Pi costs.

Note with regard to RS cases...so far as I can tell, the US subsidiary of RS--Allied--doesn't list them, so if they're what you want, you have to order from the UK site.

Here: http://www.alliedelec.com/Search/Search ... sNav=N%3a0 is a US source for cases.

Mind you, they're not cases I particularly like, but they are cases and the source is in the US.

I've been ordering cases from the UK. RS and ModMyPi have reasonable shipping rates (especially if you order multiple items at once) and use ex-VAT prices. Local (US) sales tax is your problem to deal with. (Where I live, you just declare the sales tax--for out of state items, it's actually called "use tax"--on your income tax form...and the state has trouble getting people to do that.)

I ordered from MCM electronics on Monday, realized that it wasn't going to run Netflix and tried to cancel the order. It's shipping and should be here Tuesday according to UPS. So you can get them from the link above.

Also if anyone wants one in Houston I'll let you have it for what I paid for it, unopened. $45. Otherwise, I'm going to return it.

If you want it to ship tomorrow? Order from one of the Bundles from MCM Electronics. They have a $64 bundle (Power, Pi, BUD Case, and 4GB SD with OS) in stock last I checked and a $79 bundle (adds Mouse and Keyboard).

The board only and bundle with SD card and no OS sold out Yesterday (August 23rd)

Newark also seems to regularly get shipments in (ordered 2nd of August, shipped 10th got it the 17th via UPS ground)

Allied... No clue if they even actually have Pi's yet. Canceled my order from Mid July this week as I had already gotten the two I ordered from Newark. When I called they were still predicting at least 12 weeks backorder.

I have one of those. It's very nice, but you're not going to be opening it up frequently.
