Where to buy from the Philippines.

I tried to get a Pi when it launched but I failed, primarily because of my location.

I know I "can" buy with farnell, but they won't accept credit card, and I don't want to open a trade account just for the Pi. RS Philippines didn't have it when I checked, they are now registering interest now though.

Also both sites are selling it for 2k PHP w/o shipping and tax, that is 46 USD. With VAT plus shipping + postage tax, it would be quite pricier than I have expected. I know it won't be a problem for most of you. I can easily see lots of hate posts here to those that are unhappy about the price but please understand that a student from a third world country actually has to skip more meals for that price increase.

;tldr

Where do you suggest I buy the Pi?

PS

I actually skipped some meals to save :D

I think RS in the UK will ship worldwide for about GBP26 (USD$42) including shipping. Many countries have lower limits for import taxes. If $42 is below the limit for your country, that could be the cheapest way...

I know this thread is relatively old.

But I would like to re-open it with 2 simple questions.
1. Same as title. Has there been any changes? Only internationally sellers.
2. What is the computed price including traffic and tax of Rpi if its shipped internationally?

I'm really interested in Rpi and I've already saved up a bit for it.
And yes I already have an order code from RS.

I've tried contacting a few people who managed to get RasPi in the Philippines but none of them replied to me so far. So you might try your luck with them again.

And RS Phil. does distribute but has back orders like till December...

Hello! =D

I don't know if you've already found a supplier, but if not, you might want to check this out:

http://www.gadgetpinas.ph/miscellaneous ... berry%20pi

You might also want to check out their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/somzstore

This is their contact number: 0999-165-2650
I believe they have RPi's in stock. I just texted them.

Mabuhay! Hehe.

Has anyone recently bought directly from rsdelivers.com? Based on their website, the prices are lower, but I'm wondering if there are any horror stories out there that involve lost packages or extra fees charged by the local postal service.

I just bought one Type B and a clear case for only US$49.49, and on my receipt, it does not show that I was charged with VAT and shipping fee, so I guess it was free.

I just received my order from RS.

2 model B raspberry pis, $35 each - $70
Shipping - $8.02
Total charged by RS: $78.02

Customs charges: Tax: Php840, Other: Php230 - Php 1090
Duty handling fee: Php250
Informal Entry Declaration: Php30
Customs Documentary Stamps: Php265
VAT on charges: Php33.60
Total paid to DHL: Php1668.60

Total cost for 2 raspberry pis, at current exchange rates:
Php3202.72 + Php1668.60 - Php4871.32
$78.02 + $40.65 - $118.67

Cost each when getting 2 from RS, shipped from the UK.
Php2435.66
$59.33

While I can't be certain, I would suspect that buying a single one would cost about
1 x Raspberry pi - $35
Shipping $8.02
Total at point of order: Php1765.97
Customs costs: Php1220.80
Total: Php2986.77 or $72.76

It would appear to make lots of sense to arrange a larger batch purchase to reduce costs as the additional handling fees would not increase the cost over the VAT by such a big percentage.
