The first article in the series went up yesterday; it’s a very simple howto on getting started and set up (even down to a list of peripherals, and how to flash your SD card). We’ll be keeping an eye on this series: we’re looking forward to seeing what beginners’ projects they come up with!

I second the opinion that you need a DC-DC converter, using 7805 to drop the voltage from 24V to 5V is not a good idea due to heat dissipation. A 21V drop with 0.7A current comes to about 14.7W. If… -

Debian, yes. Definitely.GNOME3, as others have said, not so much.For something GNOME 2-like, Mate should work (in theory - haven't tried since my Pi isn't here yet). It will lag a little, even on an overclocked & overvolted Model B.G3… -
